Energy Conservation Tips for Your Tumble Dryer

Tumble dryers are incredibly convenient, especially when the weather doesn’t cooperate with your outdoor drying plans. However, they are also one of the most energy-intensive appliances in your home. Here are some effective strategies to conserve energy while using your tumble dryer, ensuring you save both energy and money.

Above is a plot of some data from a drying cycle.

Saving Energy

Looking at the above graph, it seems once the exhaust humidity drops below say 10%, it should be possible to automatically stop the dryer?

At this point there is clearly no more moisture exiting the dryer.

The Sensor

The data is recorded on our Hubitat hub using the Tuya sensor placed in the tumble dryer exhaust air flow.

Hubitat rule machine logs activity every minute.
